In brief
What Economy does in Atom.
Atom Economy manages the currency used by the streaming Store. Atoms are separate from XP and scoped to one Discord server. An earning rate converts eligible activity into currency, while the members view exposes current balances and manual credit or debit controls for authorized administrators.
01
Atoms are server-scoped currency and do not replace the member’s XP or level.
02
The earning rate connects eligible progression with currency; setting it to zero pauses automatic earning.
03
Manual credits and debits are corrections or deliberate grants, not a substitute for a sustainable economy rule.
Two related systems
XP measures progression; Atoms provide spending power.
Members can earn Atoms from eligible activity without losing the XP that activity produced. The systems are related through the earning rate but serve different purposes: XP feeds levels, ranks, cards, and reward milestones, while Atoms are spent in the community Store.
Each balance belongs to one server. A member active in several Atom communities does not carry one pooled currency between them. That protects each server’s price model and keeps administrators from creating obligations for another community’s rewards.
Currency issuance
Choose a rate only after you know what the store costs.
The earning rate determines how eligible XP contributes to Atoms. A value of zero pauses automatic issuance without deleting existing balances or changing the XP system. Raising the rate increases the future currency supply, but it does not automatically reprice rewards already in the Store.
Model a typical active member and a highly active member across a week. Compare their expected Atoms with the cheapest repeatable reward and the most expensive scarce reward. A healthy economy provides progress toward both without making every live effect constant or every meaningful item unreachable.

Circulation and balances
Use aggregate totals to understand the context of one member balance.
The Economy view shows Atoms in circulation and the number of tracked balances alongside member search. A rising supply can be normal growth, an event, a rate change, or insufficient Store spending. The number matters when connected with earning and redemption history, not as an isolated health score.
Search a member by name or Discord ID and verify the selected identity before adjusting it. Display names can change and collide; the stable Discord ID is the final authority when a correction has financial-like community consequences.
Manual administration
Credit and debit with a reason that survives the moment.
Manual credit fits a documented event prize, support correction, or approved grant. Debit fits reversal, reconciliation, or correction under the community’s published policy. Enter the exact amount and direction, confirm the resulting balance, and keep a moderator record when the dashboard does not carry the full operational reason.
Do not use member edits to compensate for a broken earning rate across the whole server. Fix the policy at its source, then decide whether a bounded reconciliation is appropriate. The streaming article shows how Economy, Store, and History connect so supply decisions can be evaluated against real redemption demand.
Common questions
What administrators ask before they switch it on.
Are Atoms the same as XP?
No. XP drives levels and progression. Atoms are a separate server-scoped currency spent in the streaming Store.
What happens when the earning rate is zero?
Automatic Atom earning pauses, while existing balances and the underlying XP system remain intact.
Can an administrator change one member’s balance?
Authorized administrators can search a member and apply a specific credit or debit from the Economy member tools.
Do Atoms transfer between Discord servers?
No. Balances are scoped to the community that issued them.
