Decide what the crate is for
Use a crate to make a clearly named activity or community moment feel special. Choose a channel where members can see and understand the event. If ordinary conversation is already rewarded by XP, do not schedule crates so frequently that claiming becomes the main reason to participate.
Set the timing before the reward
Atom sends a crate into its configured channel, can show a countdown before it is claimable, and expires the message after its configured lifetime. Start with an interval that suits your community’s rhythm. Test the first full cycle in Discord so staff can see the countdown, claim button, expiry, and result that members will experience.
Keep claims and rewards proportionate
Review the claim limit, retry, reclaim-cooldown, and reward ranges as one system. A large reward with a short interval or broad claim access can distort normal progression. Compare the crate outcome with your regular XP pace before announcing it as a recurring event.
Recommended sequence
- Create a crate configuration in the Crates dashboard section and choose its Discord channel.
- Set a schedule, expiry, and any countdown or claim controls available to your server.
- Set XP or level rewards that fit the existing progression pace.
- Enable one crate and observe a complete claim and expiry cycle before creating more.
