Discord XP design guide
XP farming is usually a design signal, not a reason to make every member prove they are active. The durable fix is to reward the contribution your community actually values and make low-value repetition less effective.
“More activity” is too broad. Decide whether you want useful answers, event attendance, newcomer welcome, creative work, or conversation in a particular channel. If an action does not support that goal, it should not be the easiest way to gain XP.
Set a text cooldown before adding complicated restrictions. Use channel or role controls for spaces where XP is not useful, rather than penalizing the whole server. For voice, require enough participants to reflect a real session; introduce verification only if you have an observed abuse pattern.
A long sequence of nearly identical roles encourages members to optimize the counter. Use a few legible milestones with social or practical meaning. Review outlier progress after launch, then change one rule at a time so you can tell whether the fix worked.
Practical workflow
Set a text cooldown and identify the channels that should not earn XP.
Review voice eligibility and reaction rules separately instead of assuming every activity signal needs the same rate.
After one week, inspect unusually fast progress and adjust the narrowest rule that addresses the pattern.
